MTB Trails

We have two trail systems

They’re both exceptional and unique, just like you, you little snowflake.

Clear Creek

The Clear Creek trails are the singletrack crown jewel of the entire state. This trail system is flowy, fast, technical and tough all in one. We are continually tuning it up, so it’s always better next time as compared to last time.

The outer loop is 13 miles of bliss, however if you need to cut your ride shorter, you can take turn offs that make it 11, 9 or 3 miles long. But if you drove all the way out here, then why wouldn’t you ride it all?

If you rode your bike out here, well then obviously you have to ride it all.

Whirlpool

These are the OG trails in Oxford - originally built by Don Massey (one of the founders of OBC) and Boomer Leopold (regional honch). We’ve been riding out here since about ‘91. In They’ve been referred to as the Taylor Trails as well, but Whirlpool is what seems to stick now, as there used to be a Whirlpool plant that is now the university gym.

Like most in-town trails, this trail system is rife with cut-offs, cut-throughs, strollers, oblivious hikers and even ROTC cadets doing drills. It’s important that they enjoy these woods too, so be cool, keep moving, and as you get further off the railbed, the quieter things get. Once you’re into the trails, it’s not uncommon to never see another soul, just some deer.

The only way to learn this system is to get lost in it. Typically, taking a left brings you home, right keeps you going long. Except for when it doesn’t.

Follow blue blazes for the Blue Loop, which is south of the powerline and red blazes for the Red Loop, which is north of the powerline - that’s the core - but be open minded to other trails after that.
