MTB Trails

We have two (fantastic) trail systems

They’re both exceptional and unique, just like you.
Year-in, year-out, the volunteer trail crew keeps them in great shape while adding new surprises. Come see for yourself.

Clear Creek

The Clear Creek trails are the singletrack crown jewel of the entire state. This trail system is flowy, fast, technical and tough all in one. We are continually tuning it up, so it’s always better next time®.

The outer loop is 13 miles of bliss, however if you need to cut your ride shorter, you can take turn offs that make it 11, 9 or 3 miles long. But if you drove all the way out here, then why wouldn’t you ride it all?

If you rode your bike out here, obviously you have to ride it all.

Whirlpool

These are the OG trails in Oxford. We’ve been riding out here since about ‘91 with the trails evolving, expanding, and improving ever since. In the past they’ve been referred to as the Taylor Trails as well, but Whirlpool is what seems to stick now, as there used to be a Whirlpool plant that is now the university gym. You may also hear them referred to as the South Campus Trails or Thacker Mt. Trails. Many names, many great trails.

Like most in-town trails, this trail system is rife with cut-offs, cut-throughs, strollers, oblivious earbud-shod walkers and even ROTC cadets doing drills. It’s important that they enjoy these woods too, so be cool, keep moving, and the further you move away from the railbed, the quieter things get. Once you’re into the trails, it’s not uncommon to never see another soul but to spot deer, owls, and the occasional armadillo.

Follow blue blazes for the SCRT Blue Trail, which is south of the powerline and red blazes for the SCRT Red Trail, which is north of the powerline - that’s the core - but be open-minded to other trails after that.
